How to form group
Before starting the group work process, a group has to be formed in a planned manner. Here are some principles of planned group formation.
· Groups, like individuals, are different, evolving, developmental and ever-changing and have a great influence on the behaviour of individuals.
· Social group work groups should have elements of conscious design and planning.
· The group worker should not need to make all groups the same or expect them to meet the same needs.
· The skill of the group worker will be evident in the way he/she deliberately assists at the point of group formation.
